Dragon’s Maze Ruric Thar, the Unbowed Pre-order Available Now

Hello!Magic: the Gathering fans around the world are glued with great anticipation to websites as Wizards of the Coast begin unveiling Dragon’s Maze, the third and last set in the Return to Ravnica block. Most recently at PAX East, gamers were treated to one of ten Guild Champions to appear in Dragon’s Maze.Say hello to Ruric Thar, a legendary creature representing Gruul as their maze runner.
  1. Image
For six mana (4 colorless, a red and a green), you get a 6/6 Ogre with vigilance and reach. But the fun does not stop here. This monster is so angry he attacks each turn if able. There is also another trick up his sleeve, not that Ruric or his friend for life, Thar would ever wear a shirt with sleeves. This creature will punish any player (including its controler) for playing a non-creature spell by dealing 6 damage to that player, so an opponent casting spot removal will be taxed.
Speaking of Legendary creatures such as Dragon’s Maze Ruric Thar, the Unbowed, players can expect a legendary creatures representing each of Ravnica’s ten guilds. The artwork revealed looks amazing and we have high hopes when the cards get previewed.
Image
Players will also be happy to know that casting all these multi-color spells will be easier with the reprinting of all the Guildgates from the two previous sets. Expect to see lovely ‘zoomed out’ arts on all these reprints. Still speaking onto land, we also have the mythic rare land ‘Maze’s End’ that presents a very cool alternate win condition for the game. Essentially, Maz’e End will allow you to ‘tutor’ up a guildgate for 3 mana and then bounces back to you hand to rinse and repeat. When you have all 10 guildagate, you win the game.

Duel Decks: Sorin vs. Tibalt

Duel Decks: Sorin vs. Tibalt, coming out March 15, will have decks based on two individuals from Innistrad with radically different goals for its mortal inhabitants. There are two planewalkers in this deck. Sorin, Lord of Innistrad wishes to protect them, and Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded seeks to use them for his twisted amusement.

Since the planeswalkers of the title take up the mythic slots, the identities of the five rares for each are up in the air. So what could Sorin's be? Mentor of the Meek, Conqueror's Pledge or others?Got your own ideas as to the rares Sorin's deck will contain?

White Hot Gatecrash

Hello Magic: the Gathering fans. We all have had an opportunity now to take in an evaluate all the new Gatecrash cards and decide which ones to create a new deck with or modify an existing one. One rather popular page on our MTG Mint Card website is 'Deck Central'. Here any member can build their virtual deck, organize it and then draw sample hands to get a feel for their new creation before buying these on our website - yep - that folks is value-added service. Today, we want to showcase some of the new Gatecrash cards in a standard legal constructed build. We've taken a liking to the elegantly simply and aggressive Boros deck member 'Grudgeman' created just last week. Let's have a look!

Boros by Grudgeman
Main Board (60)
Colorless (23) : 4 Clifftop Retreat, 9 Plains, 8 Mountain, 2 Slayers' Stronghold
Multi-Color (7) : 3 Firemane Avenger, 4 Boros Charm
Others (4) : 4 Rakdos Cackler
Red (26) : 3 Stonewright, 2 Searing Spear, 4 Hellrider, 4 Stromkirk Noble, 4 Gore-House Chainwalker, 3 Splatter Thug, 3 Madcap Skills, 3 Pillar of Flame

15 Side Board
Multi-Color (2) : 2 Dryad Militant
Red (6) : 1 Madcap Skills, 1 Stonewright, 2 Zealous Conscripts, 2 Searing Spear
White (7) : 2 Thalia, Guardian of thraben, 3 Oblivion Ring, 2 Frontline Medic

The converted mana cost ramps out at four so Grudgeman has appropriately supplied 23 lands, split almost evenly between Plains and Mountains. There's a full deckset of the Innistrade check-land Clifftop Retreat an a pair of Slayer's Stronghold to provide some important haste, vigilence and pump - all very good to have in a mid-range aggro deck.

Fourteen 1-drops provide a solid jump start into a board presence : full books of Rakdos Cacklers and Stromkirk Nobles along with three Stonewrights and Pillar of Flame. In the two-drop spot, Grudgemand has Decksets of Gore-House Chainwalker and the excellent Boros Charm. A pair of Sear Spears will help clear or ping and three Madcap Skills could provide a conditional unobstructed alpha swing. There are three 3-drops with Splatter Thug whose first strike ability is relevant in today's game. Lastly, in the four-drop spot, there are four Hellriders and three Firemane Avenger. Firemane's 'Battalion' ability here will assist landing extra damage under the wire on your opponent as well as nudging your life total up a titch to keep you in the game.

Gatecrash has delivered a wonderful collection of solid fun-to-play cards and here at MTG Mint Card, we strive to keep our shelves stocked and our prices low. Drop on buy to shop and don't forget to create your very own decklist in our MTG Deck Central page.

Gatecrash Full Spolier Available Now!

Hello again Magic: the Gathering players. The very much anticipated second set in the Return to Ravnica block has now been officially released. Gatecrash has hit store shelves in multiple languages around the world on February 1, 2013. The five Guilds featured in this large set are the red / white aligned Boros, with their new mechanic 'Battalion', red / green Gruul with 'Bloodrush', black / blue Dimir with 'Cipher', green / blue Simic with 'Evolve', and the black / white Orzhov with 'Extort'. This set is quite simply amazing with something in it for just about everyone. Considering the 249 cards in this set, whether you play standard, pauper, cube, or EDH / Commander, we're certain you will find a card which will rock your game. We want to showcase some of our favorite cards in this new set and really don't know where to start. For now however here are just a few which have certainly got our attention here at MTG Mint Card.

First up - Boros Charm. This red-white two-drop uncommon is an instant spell providing three excellent abilities. Your options are four damage to your opponent, giving your permanents indestructibility until end of turn or giving target creature double strike until end of turn. Next up - Blind Obedience. This two drop enchantment for a colorless and a white will certainly mess up your opponent's tempo as their creatures and artifacts will have to enter the battlefield tapped. This is an excellent defense against an opponent who favors haste in their strategy and having the Orzhov 'extort' mechanic will help grind their life total down. Next up - Ghor-Clan Rampager. This four-drop uncommon Gruul creature provides a 4/4 beast with trample. The truly impressive (or scary thing if you are facing the business end of this) is the two-mana (red and green) bloodrush ability to sneak in extra damage or deliver a slick combat trick. Next up - Crypt Ghast. This rare four-drop (three colorless and one black) spirit with the Orzhov extort mechanic is certain to make waves across multiple formats. This spirit might not have flying but certainly delivers the juice by having all of your swamps cough up one more black mana. Drop this on turn four, then play a swamp on turn five will give you the potential of having a whopping ten mana. Lastly, the cool / crazy Simic one-drop - Experiment One. We think a lot of players will underestimate this 'human ooze' creature when it gets dropped on the gametable as it will be only a meager 1/1. Whether you include this in a deck with the Simic evolve mechanic or in a stompy Gruul deck, expect this creature to grow into a huge threat. The regenerate ability is also just icing on the cake here. Until next time, happy gaming everyone!

Creature spells with the Bloodrush activated ability allows you to pay a mana cost then discard that card to provide a boost to an attacking creature you control. Viashino Shanktail is a 3/1 creature with First strike for four mana. Should you choose to pay 2 and a red to discard this creature, you can provide a pump of +3/+1 and first strike to an attacking creature you control.
